New Year’s resolutions are usually a waste of time. Research shows that most people break their New Year Resolutions within nine days. Resolutions often become just another “to-do” list that may never get done, and if it does, once a task is crossed off the list it’s out of your mind. While I encourage you to take a look at what you’ve done over the past 12 months and think about what you’d like to change, improve or accomplish … This year challenge yourself to do more than make a list of resolutions. Resolve to change your mindset.
Change the way you approach your clients, your sales and your future. There’s no doubt all of us may have new goals to start the New Year, but we’re still clinging to the “old you” inside. Old habits. Old fears. Old hesitations. Old results. It’s time for YOU to work on creating the NEW YOU that matches your NEW goals and start working on some NEW RESULTS.
If you are going to make a list this year … maybe it should look something like this:
1. Have the guts to change. Most people want change. Change in their income. Change in their lifestyle. But most people don’t change their circumstances so they never achieve the change they want. We all know that continuing to do the same thing and expecting different results is the definition of insanity. If you want real change you will need to change your circumstances.
2. Collaborate. Connect with other people. Go to conventions and conferences and try to find little nuggets of information that you can incorporate into your business. At Proforma we have annual conventions and regional meetings. We share ideas, success stories, what’s working and what’s not. Lights switch on. People get new ideas and we help each other grow our businesses.
3. Increase your awareness. There is a world of new opportunities around us every day. The key is being able to recognize these opportunities and take advantage of them. The key is your communication. How you communicate with YOURSELF and others. Learn how to use your communication to inspire a yes. A yes in yourself. A yes in others.
My wish for you in 2014 is that you find the courage to take a leap of faith. Step out of your comfort zone and venture into the other side of fear. Try something NEW to experience NEW results. The New Year brings new hope for you, your happiness and your success. Here’s to a prosperous 2014 and beyond!
